About Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)
Egypt-Japan University for Science and Technology (E-JUST) was established in 2009 in Alexandria, Egypt, as a project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments. The university accepted its first students a year later, in 2010.
The university is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Japanese Supporting University Consortium, however the university is run entirely by the Egyptian government.
E-JUST aims to become internationally recognised for its high education standards, quality graduates and research success, as well as aiming to be one of the top 500 international universities in its first ten years. The university is research-focused and uses a Japanese approach to its teaching. This includes practical and lab work, as well as problem solving at the core of the syllabus.
Currently, E-JUST offers bachelors, master's and PhD programmes, across six schools. These schools are: electronics, communications and computer engineering; innovative design engineering; energy, environment and process engineering, applied sciences; and business and humanities. E-JUST also offers ‘"Study in Japan" programs, working with the Ministry of Higher Education to offer PhD students the opportunity to conduct their research projects in Japan for six-nine months.
A ten-day summer program is offered by E-JUST to help students study the relationships between Japan and Egypt, learn about their cultures, as well as learning both Egyptian and Arabic dialect. Students will visit cultural sites, such as Cairo Tower and Pyramids, Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Luxor. This opportunity allows students to deepen their understanding of Egyptian heritage, network with other students and learn to speak Arabic.
