Job Details

The Role and the Department

The Computing and Information Services (CIS) has an annual operational budget in excess of £12m, multi-million pound programmes of change within year, and approximately 185 staff. The Senior Leadership Team report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the following portfolios: Strategy and Change; Technical Services; Information Services (IS), and Cyber Security. CIS work with departments across the university to provide academic, teaching and administrative services that underpin the day-to-day activities of the whole organisation. Details of the Digital Strategy and ongoing work can be found at Digital Strategy - Durham University.

CIS is a friendly, but demanding department, where much is expected and can be achieved by competent, self-motivated individuals who are demonstrable in their team work ability. The department works in a hybrid capacity depending on the job role and individual personal requirements.
You will work directly with other members of the IT Business Partnering and Adoption Team, supporting them in the management of internal stakeholder relationships and the communication of core information to staff and students (our end users).

You will assist the team in writing clear and accurate communications, using our house style, to keep end users informed of IT services and the latest developments in CIS. To ensure end users can quickly understand the IT services available to them, along with the relevant status and future service plans for these, you will focus on reviewing, updating and promoting a clear catalogue of services.

You will also assist with identifying, developing and embedding processes to ensure relevant digital content is current and accurate. To support with continuous improvement within CIS, you will work with colleagues to understand service satisfaction levels and identify opportunities for development.

In addition to the communications and relationship management, other areas of support will include: digital strategy development, solution discovery and service management.

The role is fast paced and varied with no two days the same. This is a demanding role within a complex organisation. It will involve working with stakeholders at all levels, often to advise, influence and recommend the most appropriate course of action.

Interviews are expected to take place 17th - 18th July 2024
