Assistant Lecturer in German in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 526940) (to commence on August 15, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totally up to 10% of basic salary, with a possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Arts’ degree and relevant Master’s degree with proven expertise in the teaching of German as a foreign language plus at least 3 years’ of teaching experience in tertiary education. Possession of a Ph.D. degree will be an advantage. Applicants should be native or near native speakers of German and possess good communication skills in English. They should also be conversant with current trends in language teaching and assessment. The appointee is expected to teach a number of different German courses, including both language and content courses on German culture at various levels (which are offered as part of the Global and Area Studies (GLAS) Major of the School), and develop new courses and design assessment materials in the GLAS major.
